Position Overview:
As General Manager, you are the operational heartbeat of our location. You will own the operational performance of our location including hiring, training, scheduling, and holding a team of coaches accountable to delivering SafeSplash's standard of instruction. You thrive in an environment where the scoreboard is clear: student outcomes, retention, and a team that shows up ready to coach.
You own the day-to-day: the schedule, the staff, the customer experience, and the standard. When something isn't working, you fix it. When the team needs leadership, you provide it. When a parent walks in nervous about putting their three-year-old in the water for the first time, you're the reason they leave happy.
You will report directly to the owners and sit on our leadership team. This is not a support role. You will have real accountability and real authority to match it.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence:
Build and maintain the systems, schedules, and SOPs that keep the location running without chaos. You love a clean inbox and creating an environment where swimmers and parents feel special.
Customer Experience:
Manage enrollments, handle parent communication, and resolve issues before they become problems. You are the face of the location.
Team Leadership:
Recruit, train, schedule, and develop a team of swim instructors. Hold them accountable to our coaching standard and show up as the example they follow.
Performance:
Track key metrics including enrollment, retention, and lesson quality. Know your numbers and know what to do when they move.
Who You Are:
You have a strong passion for water safety and a strong belief in our purpose to positively impact lives. You have an abundance mindset, embrace challenges and are comfortable being uncomfortable. Previous swimming experience is not required.
Professionally, you have led a team and are comfortable making decisions. Whether that's a fitness studio, childcare center, retail operation, swim school, or something similar, you know what it feels like to own a team’s outcomes, not just contribute to them. You're energized by building something rather than just maintaining it, and you hold a high bar without being rigid about how you get there.
You probably don't need a lot of hand-holding. But you appreciate owners who are available, experienced, and genuinely invested in your success.
Compensation:
Expected salary is $40,000. As enrollments grow and performance is proven, this position will become eligible for incentive compensation in the form of a performance bonus.
Schedule:
Either the General Manager or an assigned Manger on Duty is expected to be present during lessons which currently run:
Monday: 4:00p – 7:00p
Wednesday: 9:00a – 12:00p; 4:00p – 7:00p
Thursday: 4:00p – 7:00p
Saturday: 9:00a – 12:00p
You must be able to work into the weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. As the number of students grow, we will expand into additional days and times. The support staff will grow as well to support your expansion and growth.
